It is known that the Delhi Police have taken into custody Abhijeet Deepke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, and Neha Bora, president of the All India Students Association (AISA). This development took place shortly before the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' protest rally, which was held at Connaught Place in Delhi, alleging irregularities in the electoral rolls and demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
The organizers have called for a protest at Central Park at 5 pm this evening. However, the police said that the rally did not have permission from the Municipal Council and Section 163 of the Indian National Security Code (BNSS) was in force in that area. In this order, Abhijeet Deepke and Neha Bora were taken into custody before the rally.
These arrests have created a huge political uproar. BJP national president Nitin Nabeen has made strong allegations that the opposition parties are plotting a 'conspiracy to change the government' (regime change) in collaboration with foreign powers. He said that the real agenda of the opposition parties has been exposed before the country by using words like 'regime change'. He said that this is a conspiracy hatched by urban Naxals in collaboration with foreign powers to destabilize the country. He said that in a democracy, power comes with the verdict of the people, not with anarchy. Despite the arrests of the leaders, about 200 to 300 protesters reached Connaught Place and continued their protest.
