The 'Chalo Lok Bhavan' program organized by the Indi alliance in Hyderabad under the name 'Save Democracy' turned tense. The alliance leaders took out a huge protest rally from the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road to Lok Bhavan. They raised slogans demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
State ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Vakiti Srihari, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Azharuddin, Sridhar Babu, PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, MP Asaduddin Owaisi and many other leaders participated in this rally.
When the rally reached Lok Bhavan, the police set up heavy barricades and prevented the leaders from moving forward. This led to an altercation between the police and the alliance leaders. The situation was tense there for some time.
With this, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Vem Narender Reddy and others protested on the road. Later, the police detained them and took them to the DCM.
The Indi alliance is expressing objections to the Special Comprehensive Revision (SCR) process of the voters' list undertaken by the Central Election Commission. In this context, it is organizing 'Save Democracy' programs across the country, demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. The alliance had previously planned to hold protests from October 2 to 8.
On the other hand, the Indi alliance has also focused on its next action in Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge organized a dinner meeting for alliance leaders at Connaught Place in Delhi on Thursday. It is reported that another protest is likely to be held later demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
