A key development has taken place in the backdrop of the Punganur municipal elections. In view of law and order, the police have issued notices to local MLA and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and his son, Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy, not to enter Punganur town. Expressing deep dissatisfaction with this development, Peddireddy made a sensational announcement that the YSRCP is withdrawing from the Punganur election race.
On the first day of nominations, violent clashes broke out between TDP and YSRCP workers. The Annamayya district police took these measures in the backdrop of these violent incidents. Four cases have been registered against MP Mithun Reddy in connection with these clashes. Cases have also been registered against more than 250 other YSRCP leaders.
